08399500 PECOS RIVER (KAISER CHANNEL) NEAR LAKEWOOD, NM
LOCATION - Lat 32°41'21.75", long 104°17'57.19" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Eddy County, NM, Hydrologic Unit 13060011, on left bank 3.0 mi upstream from high-water line of former Lake McMillan, 6.0 mi northeast of Lakewood, 12 mi southeast of Artesia, and at mi 492.1. 
DRAINAGE AREA - 19,163 mi² of which 1,814 mi² probably is noncontributing.  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1950 to current year. Prior to October 1954, published as "Kaiser Lake-McMillan Channel."
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 3,270.3 ft above NGVD of 1929 (Bureau of Reclamation benchmark). At present site and datum since Oct. 14, 2008. Prior to Mar. 23, 1955, at site 3.0 mi downstream at datum 9.60 ft lower. Mar. 23, 1955, to Sept. 30, 1963, at present site at datum 15.00 ft higher. Oct. 1, 1963 to May 9, 1995, at present site at datum 13.00 ft higher. May 10, 1995 to Oct. 13, 2008, at present site at datum 10.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Water years 2015-2021; records fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Diversions and ground-water withdrawals for irrigation of about 3,000 acres, 1959 determination, upstream from station. Above about 1,500 ft³/s, flow will begin bypassing station and depending on the magnitude and duration of flow, may reach Brantley Lake (station 08401450).
