LOCATION - Lat 30°56'34", long 103°47'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Reeves County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 13070003, on South Canal at Toyahvale, 540 ft downstream from headgate at pool of springs, and 4.0 mi southwest of Balmorhea.
DRAINAGE AREA - Not determined, spring flow site.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1931 to Dec. 1933, Mar. 1941 to Sept. 1965 (daily discharge). Nov. 1965 to May 2017 (miscellaneous discharge measurements). May 2017 to current year (discharge, rating not yet developed). PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD, Water-Quality.-- SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Jan. 2001 to Aug. 2001. WATER TEMPERATURE: Jan. 2001 to Aug. 2001.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of the gage is 3312.14 ft. above NAVD88. Prior to Mar. 17. 2022, datum of the gage listed at 3,311.02 ft. above the NGVD of 1929. Satellite telemeter at station.

REMARKS - Spring flow site. Site is highly regulated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife with multiple diversions and pumpage near the gage. Some records listed in the period of record may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum mean daily discharge, 71 ft³/s, Oct. 7-9, 1932 and Oct. 26-30, 1941 (gage-height not available).; minimum, 26 ft³/s Jul. 8-24, 1965 (gage-height not available). Continuous water-stage recorder and satellite telemeter gage installed May 13, 2017. Prior to this date, site was primarily a periodic discharge measurement site. Highest measured discharge: 83.2 ft³/s, Oct. 31, 1975 (gage-height not determined). Current base rating only computes discharges down to 4.0 ft³/s. Discharge below 4 ft³/s occur due to diversions and pumping at the gage.
