LOCATION - Lat 37°15'09", long 108°21'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.35, T.35 N., R.14 W., Montezuma County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14080107, in Mesa Verde National Park on the right bank, 1.05 mi south of the National Park boundary, 3 mi downstream from Mud Creek, and 7.4 mi southwest of Mancos.
DRAINAGE AREA - 162 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2006 to September 2015 (discontinued). Daily value discharge data for this site for water years 2004-06 can be found online and was provided by the National Park Service.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 6,340 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated to some extent by Jackson Gulch Reservoir, 17 mi upstream, capacity 10,000 acre-ft, since Mar. 1949.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of May 23, 2005, reached a stage of 4.62 ft, present site and datum; discharge, 1,510 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow (data supplied by the National Park Service).
