09527000 PILOT KNOB POWERPLANT AND WASTEWAY NEAR PILOT KNOB, CA
LOCATION - Lat 32°44'15", long 114°42'56" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.25, T.16 S., R.21 E., Imperial County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 15030107, San Bernardino Meridian, 2 mi east of summit of Pilot Knob, 6 mi west of Yuma, AZ, and 20.8 mi downstream from intake of All-American Canal at Imperial Dam.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Feb. 1939 to current year. Prior to October 1943 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1313. Prior to October 1956, published as Pilot Knob Wasteway near Pilot Knob.
GAGE - The forebay is a water-stage recorder. The tail race is a remote stage transmitter. Openings through two turbines are indicated by the wicket opening in percent. Spill gates are equipped with continuous graphic recorders connected by standard float tapes.
COOPERATION - Daily discharges furnished by Imperial Irrigation District.
REMARKS - Record is rated good. Records show water released through Pilot Knob powerplant and wasteway from All American Canal and returned to Colorado River through Rockwood gates. Pilot Knob Wasteway was completed in the summer of 1938 and first flow occurred on February 5, 1939. Pilot Knob powerplant was completed in January 1957 and first flow occurred on January 14, 1957.
