LOCATION - Lat 40°28'12", long 118°18'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.18, T.30 N., R.33 E., Pershing County, NV, Hydrologic Unit 16040108, in SE1/4 NE1/4 sec.18, T.30 N., R.33 E., at control works on east side of Rye Patch Dam on Humboldt River, and 2 mi northwest of Rye Patch.
DRAINAGE AREA - 16,100 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1714: Drainage area. Elevation of gage from beginning of record to 10/17/2017 was 4133 ft and was revised on 10/17/2017, based on single-base OPUS-S level 3 survey.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Feb. 1936 to current year.
GAGE - Staff gage on dam read daily when water level is high enough. When level is low, surface elevation obtained by levels. Elevation of gage is 4103.7 ft above NAVD88 from Global Navigation Satellite System survey quality level 3.
COOPERATION - Records of daily elevation and storage furnished by Pershing County Water Conservation District.
REMARKS - Reservoir is formed by earthfill, rock-faced dam; storage began Feb. 20, 1936. Capacity, 194,300 acre-ft between elevations, 4,072.5 ft, sill of trashrack structure, and 4,136.0 ft, top of spillway gates (since Jun. 1976). Dead storage negligible. Elevation of spillway (gate sill) is 4,119 ft. Figures given herein represent usable contents and are based on capacity table No. 2, developed by Bureau of Reclamation, in use since Oct. 1, 1971. Water is used for irrigation in the Lovelock area.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 204,100 acre-ft, Apr. 26 to May 1, 2006, elevation, 4,136.8 ft; no contents, Aug. 7-11, 1955, May 12 to Jun. 13, 1961, Jul. 17, 1992, and Aug. 11-13, 1992.
