USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
11060910 Lytle Creek Leakage below Southern California Edison Co.'s Diversion Dam, near Fontana, CA
LOCATION - Lat 34°13'53", long 117°29'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.26, T.2 N., R.6 W., San Bernardino County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18070203, 75 ft downstream from Southern California Edison Co.'s diversion dam, 1.2 mi southeast of Lytle Creek, and 9.5 mi northwest of Fontana.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2003 to current year (instantaneous values only, based on discharge measurements).
GAGE - None. Elevation of gage is 2,780 ft above NAVD of 1988, from topographic map.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by Southern California Edison Co., under general supervision of the U.S. Geological Survey, in connection with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission project No. 1932.
REMARKS - No regulation upstream from station. Southern California Edison Co.'s Lytle Creek Conduit (station 11060900) diverts water from Lytle Creek at diversion dam, approximately 75 ft upstream. Measured flow at this station represents leakage from the diversion dam and nearby sandbox.  All furnished measurements are listed in NWIS as instantaneous daily values. Prior to Aug. 1, 2008, weekly discharge measurements were normally made at this station to verify that the Southern California Edison Co.'s diversion operations were not affecting the amount of leakage through the Lytle Creek diversion dam. On Aug. 1, 2008, the desired measurement frequency was changed to monthly. Measurements are generally not made, and are not required, when the diversion is turned out, or the diversion dam and sandbox are spilling. See schematic diagram of Santa Ana River Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge observed, 3.30 ft³/s, Oct. 6, 2020; no flow at times in some years.
