LOCATION - Lat 38°05'33", long 120°10'04" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.25, T.3 N., R.16 E., Tuolumne County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18040010, in Stanislaus National Forest, on left bank, 600 ft downstream from Lyons Dam, 1.9 mi west of Long Barn, and 15 mi northeast of Sonora.
DRAINAGE AREA - 66.9 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1215: 1938 (instantaneous maximum discharge). WSP 1930: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1937 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1315-A.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and rectangular weir. Elevation of gage is 4,175 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Sept. 30, 1997, at site 300 ft downstream at different datum.
COOPERATION - Records were collected by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, under general supervision of the U.S. Geological Survey, in connection with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission project no. 2130.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Lyons Reservoir (station 11297700) 600 ft upstream and Pinecrest Lake (station 11295900). High flow record based on historical measurements, peak flow computations and current observations. Tuolumne Canal (station 11297500) diverts at Lyons Dam. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 12,900 ft³/s, Jan. 2, 1997, gage height, 13.03 ft, from rating curve extended above 2,400 ft³/s, on basis of computation of peak flow over Lyons Dam; no flow at times in 1937-39, 1952.
