LOCATION - Lat 41°50'07", long 123°22'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.26, T.17 N., R.7 E., Siskiyou County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18010209, on right bank, 0.2 mi upstream from Ikes (Slater) Creek, 3.0 mi north of Happy Camp, and 3.5 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 120 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1635: 1957-58.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - September 1911 to September 1921 (fragmentary), December 1956 to current year (crest-stage gage only, October 2008 to March 2009). Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1315-B.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,198.37 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to December 1956, nonrecording gages at sites 1.0 mi upstream at different datum. December 1956 to Sept. 20, 1969, water-stage recorder at site 0.8 mi upstream at different datum.
REMARKS - Small diversions upstream and at station for irrigation. See schematic diagram of Klamath River and Trinity River Basins available from the California Water Science Center.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Dec. 21, 1955, reached a stage of 29.0 ft, at 1956-69 site and datum, from floodmarks, discharge, 23,000 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow. Maximum discharge, 39,000 ft³/s, Dec. 22, 1964, gage height, 24.3 ft, from floodmarks, present site and datum; 36.59 ft from floodmarks in gage well, from rating curve extended above 6,000 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement at gage height 29.0 ft, previous site and datum; minimum daily, 21 ft³/s, Sept. 12, 1977 and Sept.16, 2014.
