LOCATION - Lat 42°40'16", long 122°40'25" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 sec.26, T.33 S., R.1 E., Jackson County, OR, Hydrologic Unit 17100307, in outlet structure of Lost Creek Dam on Rogue River, 1.0 mi northeast of McLeod and at mile 157.2.
DRAINAGE AREA - 686 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR OR-85-2: Drainage area. WDR-US-2010: 2005.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 1977 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Prior to Nov. 28, 1977, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
COOPERATION - Capacity table furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - Reservoir is formed by earthfill dam completed in October 1976. Storage began in February 1977. Total capacity, 465,000 acre-ft between elevations 1,551.0 ft and 1,872.0 ft (maximum pool elevation). Elevation of gated spillway crest, 1,823.0 ft. Active capacity, 315,000 acre-ft between elevations 1,751.0 ft and 1,872.0 ft. Lake's primary purposes are flood risk management, hydropower, water quality improvement, irrigation, fish and wildlife habitat, and recreation. Month-end contents and change in contents discontinued water year 2014.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 467,900 acre-ft May 10, 2005, elevation, 1,872.84 ft; minimum contents since first filling, 100,800 acre-ft Oct. 29, 1977, elevation, 1,720.50 ft.
