LOCATION - Lat 21°58'17.0", long 159°38'46.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kauai County, HI, Hydrologic Unit 20070000, on left bank 0.7 mi upstream from mouth, and 1.9 mi northeast of Waimea.
DRAINAGE AREA - 26.16 mi². from automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated September 2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated May 2008, using UTM Zone 4 projection, NAD 83 horizontal datum.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1943 to September 2019 (discontinued). Records for October 1911 to June 1917 at site 0.2 mi downstream not equivalent owing to intervening diversion.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 18.2 ft above mean sea level (by stadia survey). Prior to June 16, 1959, at datum 1.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Olokele ditch diverts all low flow from the headwaters of the Olokele River 9 mi upstream for irrigation in vicinity of Makaweli. A 5 ft³/s capacity ditch diverts water 0.1 mi upstream of station for irrigation of taro in the vicinity of the station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 26,000 ft³/s, January 31, 1975, gage height, 15.51 ft, from rating curve extended above 3,200 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement at gage height 10.65 ft, maximum gage height 15.76 ft, Feb 3, 2008; minimum daily 4.3 ft³/s, July 19, 1951.
