    This station is operated in cooperation with:

    LOCATION.--Lat 42°20'05", long 77°40'59" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Steuben County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02050104, on right bank 35 ft downstream from bridge on State Highway 21, 1.2 mi west of Hornell, 1.5 mi downstream from Almond Dam, and 2.0 mi upstream from mouth.
    DRAINAGE AREA.--57.9 mi2.
    PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1940 to December 1942, October 1944 to current year.
    REVISED RECORDS.--WSP 2103: Drainage area. WDR NY-71-1: 1969 (M).
    GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of gage is 1,185.68 ft above NGVD of 1929. Oct. 23, 1940 to Dec. 31, 1942, at site 185 ft upstream at different datum. Apr. 19, 2009 to May 7, 2010, due to bridge reconstruction, temporary gage 1.0 mi upstream at different datum.
    REMARKS.--Records good. Since June 1949, floodflows regulated by detention in Almond Lake (station 01523000). Occasional regulation at low flows to clear debris from gates at Almond Lake. Monthly figures for 1952-66 water years adjusted for regulation. Satellite gage-height telemeter at station.
    EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, since construction of Almond Lake in 1949, 5,880 ft3/s, June 23, 1972, gage height 6.14 ft; minimum discharge, 0.37 ft3/s, July 23, 2004.
    EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Flood of July 8, 1935, reached a stage of 16.61 ft, from floodmarks, different datum, discharge, 21,000 ft3/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.
    EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION.--Maximum discharge, prior to construction of Almond Lake in 1949, 9,430 ft3/s, May 17, 1945, gage height, 5.14 ft, from rating curve extended above 3,400 ft3/s; maximum gage height, 6.65 ft, June 3, 1947; minimum discharge, 3.4 ft3/s, Oct. 2, 1941.
