Station gage imageSTATION.--01473000 PERKIOMEN CREEK AT GRATERFORD, PA
LOCATION.--Lat 40`13'46", long 75`27'07", Montgomery County, Hydrologic Unit 02040203, on left bank 1,650 ft upstream from highway bridge at Graterford, 0.5 mi upstream from Landis Brook, and 2.5 mi north of Collegeville.
DRAINAGE AREA.--279 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1914 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1302. Prior to October 1950, published as "at Graters Ford."
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and climatological sensor. Datum of gage is 112.66 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. June 1914, to Sept. 6, 1921, non-recording gage at site 1,650 ft downstream at datum 3.29 ft lower. Sept. 7, 1921, to Sept. 13, 1927, non-recording gage at present site and datum. Satellite and land-line telemetry at station.
GAGE HEIGHTS OF IMPORTANCE.-
Supplied by USGS: Maximum recordable gage height (stage sensor operational limit) - 17.5 ft; Data transmitter operational limit - 18.5 ft;
Supplied by NWS: Action stage-9 ft, at 8 ft, Park Avenue in Swenksville is flooded; 9 ft-Flash Flood Alarm sounds at the County EOC; Flood stage-11 ft, at 10 ft, first evacuations begin in Swenksville upstream of gage; Moderate flood stage-13 ft, Sewage treatment plant in Swenksville flooded; Major flood stage-16 ft, at 13.5 ft, houses on left bank in Graterford flood.
COOPERATION.--Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS.--
The 15-minute precipitation data for this station are temporary and will only be displayed for 120 days. Time series of 1-hour or cumulative daily values will NOT be available for retrieval following the 120-day display period. Although the instrumentation is calibrated at least once a year, the temporary classification means that documented routine inspections and other quality assurance measures are not performed that would make the data acceptable for archival, retrieval, or future use in general scientific or interpretive studies.
