    Station gage imageSTATION.--03029500 CLARION RIVER AT COOKSBURG, PA
    LOCATION.--Lat 41`19'50", long 79`12'33", Jefferson County, Hydrologic Unit 05010005, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on State Highway 36 at Cooksburg, 300 ft downstream from Toms Run, and 2.7 mi upstream from Cathers Run.
    DRAINAGE AREA.--807 mi2.
    PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1938 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October, November 1938, published in WSP 1305.
    GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,147.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to May 17, 1939, nonrecording gage at same site and datum.
    GAGE HEIGHTS OF IMPORTANCE.-
    Supplied by NWS: Action stage-10.5 ft; Flood stage-13 ft; Moderate flood stage-15 ft; Major flood stage-17 ft.
    REMARKS.--Flow regulated by East Branch Clarion River Lake since June 1952 and at low flow by industrial plants above station. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite telemeter at station.
    The 15-minute precipitation data for this station are temporary and will only be displayed for 120 days. Time series of 1-hour or cumulative daily values will NOT be available for retrieval following the 120-day display period. Although the instrumentation is calibrated at least once a year, the temporary classification means that documented routine inspections and other quality assurance measures are not performed that would make the data acceptable for archival, retrieval, or future use in general scientific or interpretive studies.

    EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum stage since 1935, 19 ft, Mar. 17, 1936, from floodmarks, discharge, about 56,000 ft3/s.
    COOPERATION.--Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by Brookfield Power, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey through the National Streamflow Infromation Program.
    This station managed by the PAWSC Pittsburgh Field Office.
