USGS 01180500 MIDDLE BRANCH WESTFIELD RIVER AT GOSS HEIGHTS, MA

 

PROVISIONAL DATA SUBJECT TO REVISION

 
 

LOCATION--Lat 42° 15’31", long 72° 52’23", Hampshire County, Hydrologic Unit 01080206, on right bank at upstream side of highway bridge at Goss Heights, 0.3 mi upstream from mouth, 0.7 mi downstream from Littleville Dam, and 1.7 mi north of Huntington.
DRAINAGE AREA--52.7 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD--July 1910 to current year (data publication discontinued September 30, 1990).
REVISED RECORDS--WSP 415: 1910-13. WSP 781: 1933(M), WDR MA-RI-84-1: drainage area.
GAGE--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 399.30 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark). Prior to June 25, 1930, datum was 2.00 ft higher, and June 25, 1930, to Sept. 30, 1964, datum was 1.00 ft higher. Prior to Sept. 8, 1912, non-recording gage at same site.
REMARKS-- Flow regulated by Littleville Dam since 1965.
