LOCATION.--Lat 39°00'44", long 78°57'23", NAD 27, Hardy County,
Hydrologic Unit 02070001, on right bank 0.2 mi downstream from
Stony Creek, 3.5 mi south of Moorefield, and at mile 5.3.
DRAINAGE AREA.--277 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1928 to September 1935, August 1938 to September
2001 (measurements, daily mean discharges, and annual maximums);
October 2001 to September 2004 (measurements, daily mean
discharges, annual maximums, and discharges at one hour or less
intervals); October 2004 to current year (measurements, daily
mean discharges, annual maximums, and gage heights and discharges
at one hour or less intervals).

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is
861.51 ft above sea level (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers datum).
Prior to Mar. 11, 1940, nonrecording gage at Harness Ford Bridge
2.0 mi upstream at datum about 31 ft higher.
REMARKS.--The flow from 92.7 mi2 upstream from station is partially
controlled, but not diverted, by several floodwater detention
reservoirs with a total combined detention capacity of
19,870 acre-ft.
