LOCATION--Lat 42° 42'01", long 73° 09'34", Berkshire County, Hydrologic Unit 02020003, on left bank 0.3 mi downstream from Sherman Brook and 2.7 mi east of junction of U.S. Highway 7 and State Highway 2 in Williamstown.
DRAINAGE AREA--126 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD--Discharge: July 1940 to current year.
Water-quality records: Water years 1953–54, 1957–58, 1967–69.
GAGE--Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 615.45 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to June 6, 1979, at site 1.2 mi downstream at different datum.
REMARKS--Prior to 1966, slight diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by mills upstream. Some regulation by Cheshire Reservoir 16 mi upstream. Satellite gage-height telemeter at station.
COOPERATION BY--Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Water Resources.
