LOCATION.--Lat 43°05'42", long 89°22'12", in SE 1/4 sec.12, T.7 N., R.9 E., Dane County, Hydrologic Unit 07090001, in city boat house at dam at outlet, in Madison. 

DRAINAGE AREA. --233 square miles, 36.6 is non-contributing. Area of Lake Mendota, 15.2 square miles. 

PERIOD OF RECORD.--December 1902 to May 1903, January 1916 to present (incomplete). 

REVISED RECORDS.--WDR WI-73-1: Drainage area. 

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 840.00 ft above sea level (NGVD 1929), or 5.60 ft below City of Madison datum. Prior to Oct. 1, 1979, at datum 7.82 ft higher; prior to Nov. 15, 1971, nonrecording gage at same site and datum. 

REMARKS.-- Lake level regulated by concrete dam with two 12-foot gates and 20-foot lock at outlet. Gage-height telemeter at station.
