The U.S. Geological Survey Water Mission Area is hiring Interdisciplinary Scientists to provide product ownership and technical leadership for information delivery. This is a hiring effort for permanent federal positions at two levels of experience (GS12/13). About the positions

This cluster hire is part of a continued investment by USGS in data and information delivery. There is one announcement to fill two roles within the Web Communications Branch. Applicants may apply to and be considered for both announcements, as long as they meet the minimum qualifications for the grade and job series.

Interdisciplinary Scientists - Product Owner and Tech Lead

We are seeking two Interdisciplinary Scientists. Positions will focus on product ownership and technical leadership in water information delivery products. See more about how we work , our tech stack , and the role of user-centered design in our software product development .

Duties include:

  • Lead projects within the IIDD WCB set of capabilities (data dissemination, technology development, and data visualization).
  • Design analytical methods, use cases, and scenarios for new data dissemination campaigns, reporting, and decision making in support of a variety of initiatives involving changes in policies, water conditions, and scientific methodology.
  • Oversee the design and creation of analysis, processing, and data dissemination workflows for both structured and unstructured data.
  • Engage existing and prospective partners in other domains on data workflows, computing options, and user needs.
  • Develop and implement state-of-the-art software tools to collect, analyze, and deliver large volumes of structured and unstructured data using modern software languages and methods.

Interdisciplinary Scientists may qualify as a physical scientist (1301) , biologist (0401) , or mathematical statistician (1529) .
