  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
252551081050900 HARNEY RIVER NEAR FLAMINGO, FL
LOCATION - Lat 25°25'50", long 81°05'09.45" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Monroe County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090202, in Everglades National Park, approximately 300 ft upstream of the Harney River Chickee on the left bank.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-US-2009, site 252551081050900; 2008 discharge.  Discharge, in ft³/s, for the period of record May 26, 2010 to November 3, 2015, were revised on March 22, 2018, based on changes to the index-velocity rating.  Instantaneous and daily values are available online at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: October 2003 to current year. GAGE HEIGHT: October 2003 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite data collection platform with acoustic Doppler velocity meter and acoustic stage sensor. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88).
REMARKS - Streamflow at this site is affected by astronomical tides. Daily mean discharge was computed using the Godin low-pass filter to remove tidal effects from unit values. Discharge and gage height records are available in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey. Discharge and gage height 15 minute data can also be accessed online at http://sofia.usgs.gov/. Daily values are available online at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: Maximum positive discharge (unfiltered), 11,700 ft³/s, Nov. 14, 2020; maximum negative discharge (unfiltered), 23,300 ft³/s Sept. 28, 2022. GAGE HEIGHT: Maximum gage height, 5.06 ft Oct. 24, 2005: minimum gage height, -3.89 ft Mar. 4, 2005.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - SALINITY (TOP): October 2003 to September 2011. Discontinued. SALINITY (BOTTOM): October 2003 to May 2008. Discontinued. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE (TOP): March 2010 to September 2011. Discontinued. WATER TEMPERATURE (TOP): October 2003 to September 2011. Discontinued. WATER TEMPERATURE (BOTTOM): October 2003 to May 2008. Discontinued.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor with top and bottom sensors.
REMARKS - Prior to September 1, 2010 salinity was computed directly from specific conductance using a conversion within the continuous water quality monitor. From August 10, 2010 to October 2011, salinity is computed from corrected specific conductance data using a rating in the NWIS database. During periods of missing record, values may be higher or lower than the listed extremes. Water temperature and salinity records are available in files of the U.S. Geological Survey. Water temperature and salinity 15 minute data can also be accessed online at http://sofia.usgs.gov/. Daily values are available online at http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/fl/nwis/qw.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SALINITY (TOP): Maximum recorded 37.5 ppt May 8, 9, 2009; minimum recorded, 0.5 ppt Sept. 24, Oct. 11, 2005. SALINITY (BOTTOM): Maximum recorded 35.9 ppt May 14, 2007; minimum recorded, 0.5 ppt Oct. 10, 11, 2005. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE (TOP): Maximum recorded, 56,100 uS/cm @ 25°C June 15, 2011; minimum recorded, 2,340 uS/cm @ 25°C Oct. 5, 2010.
