ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For this site, "Field groundwater-level measurements"
indicate water levels above two different vertical datums (Local Mean
Sea Level, LMSL; and Northern Marianas Vertical Datum of 2003, NMVD03)
for each measurement date and time, although only one of the datums
currently is appropriate and accurate for the measurement. In general,
the appropriate vertical datum is date dependent. For this site, the
appropriate datum for water levels measured before 2004 is LMSL,
whereas the appropriate datum for water levels measured since 2004 is
NMVD03. Because the difference in altitude between the two datums at
this site cannot be accurately quantified from existing information, an
arbitrary difference of 1 foot was assumed. An altitude difference of 1
foot is generally consistent with the altitude difference between the
two datums at other Saipan sites. At this site, inaccuracy in the
assumed 1-foot altitude difference between datums will affect the water
levels relative to NMVD03 prior to 2004 and the water levels relative
to LMSL after 2004.
