The Wailuku River at Kepaniwai Park gage (station 16604500), installed in 1983 just upstream of the diversion between Iao Valley State Park and Kepaniwai Park, was destroyed during the flood that occurred on September 13, 2016. Due to instability in the channel after the flood, the gage could not be reinstalled at its original location, so it was temporarily moved about 2,000 feet downstream to the bridge on Iao Valley Road. During April 13, 2017 to October 3, 2019, the data that were reported for station 16604500 were stage data from the Iao Valley Road bridge (now station 16605500), and estimated discharge data for the original 16604500 site above the diversion. After October 3, 2019, all stage and discharge data (including historical data) reported for station ID 16605500 was collected at Iao Valley Road bridge, and all stage and discharge data (including historical data) reported for station ID 16604500 was collected (or estimated) at the original 16604500 site above the diversion.
