LOCATION - Lat 38°40'01", long 86°47'31" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.30, T.3 N., R.3 W., Martin County, IN, Hydrologic Unit 05120208, on upstream left bank, 30 ft upstream of Highway 50 bridge at Shoals, 1.0 mi upstream from Beaver Creek, 6.5 mi downstream from Indian Creek, and at mile 105.4.

Published as East Branch White River at Shoals, 1903-06, 1908-16. Gage-height records collected at same site since May 1908 are contained in reports of the National Weather Service.

Water-stage recorder.  Datum of gage is 441.91 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 or 442.25 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Oct. 26, 1932 to Dec. 12, 1989 and Aug. 9, 1999 to present, at current site.
