LOCATION - Lat 37°27'50", long 86°39'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Ohio County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05110004, on center of bridge span on U.S. Hwy 62, 0.7 miles upstream from Horse Branch, 1.5 miles northeast of Village of Horse Branch, and at mile 12.1.
DRAINAGE AREA - 124 mi². includes that of Horse Branch at U.S. Hwy 62.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1956 to 1992. September 2010 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry and broad-crested weir. Datum is 415.77 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 416.13 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to 1977, at datum 1.00 foot higher. Prior to October 1956, non-recording gage at same site and higher datum.
COOPERATION - Kentucky Division of Water
REMARKS - Some periods of no flow possible.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 13,600 ft³/s, May 7, 1984, gage height, 13.96 feet; maximum gage height, 15.43 feet, November 18, 1957, present datum, backwater from Rough River or debris; no flow at times.
