The streamgaging station, Plum Island River at Plum Island, MA (42475200491701), was discontinued October 1, 2017 due to insufficient funds. This station has operated continuously since August 2015 and has provided river stage and discharge data to numerous Federal, State, and local water-management agencies to monitor and manage water resources.

DRAINAGE AREA--311 mi2, excludes 23.6 mi2 drained by Stony Brook, from which flow is diverted for municipal supply for Cambridge.
PERIOD OF RECORD--September 2002 to current year.
GAGE--Data Collection Platform with telephone telemeter. Stage sensor for Charles River and Boston Harbor.
DATUM--Datum of gages are from the Massachusetts Metropolitan District Commission base, which is 105.62 ft higher than NGVD 1929.
REMARKS--Charles River stage affected by operation of the New Charles River Dam and Boston Harbor stage affected by tide.
