The streamgaging station, Plum Island River at Plum Island, MA (42475200491701), was discontinued October 1, 2017 due to insufficient funds. This station has operated continuously since August 2015 and has provided river stage and discharge data to numerous Federal, State, and local water-management agencies to monitor and manage water resources.

LOCATION--Lat 41° 41’24", long 71°
33’59", Kent County, Hydrologic Unit 01090004, on right bank
150 ft downsteam from highway bridge at Washington and 0.9 mi upstream
from outlet of Tiogue Lake.
DRAINAGE AREA--62.8 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD--Discharge: October 1940 to current year.
Water-quality records: Water years 1955–1956, 1963.
GAGE--Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 217.76 ft above sea level.
REMARKS--Flow regulated by Flat River Reservoir 2 mi upstream, usable capacity, 250,000,000 ft3, and smaller reservoirs. Prior to May 1972, diversion from Carr Pond for municipal supply of Coventry, Warwick, and West Warwick. Satellite gage-height telemeter at station.
