LOCATION.--Lat 39°36'44.5", long 77°14'14.8", Carroll County, MD, Hydrologic Unit 02070009, on right downstream side of bridge on State Highway 194, 500 ft downstream from Bruceville, 3.6 mi upstream from Detour and confluence with Little Pipe Creek. DRAINAGE AREA.--102 mi2. PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1947 to current year. Prior to December 1947, monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1302. GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage and concrete control. Datum of gage is 336.21 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to October 1, 2013, gage located on left bank, 300 ft downstream at same gage datum. REMARKS.--Occasional diversion for irrigation upstream from station. U.S. Geological Survey satellite data-collection platform at station. Water-quality records for some prior periods have been collected at this location. EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 28,000 ft³/s, Sept. 26, 1975, gage height, 18.98 ft; minimum discharge, 0.06 ft³/s, Aug. 22, 2002.
