Updated September 21, 2018 - USGS water-resources monitoring will continue with partner funds and USGS Cooperative Matching Funds at the following site: USGS water-resources monitoring will be discontinued at the following sites effective October 1, 2018:
  • 06024540 Big Hole R bel Mudd Cr nr Wisdom, MT (seasonal water temperature)
  • 06308400 Pumpkin Cr nr Miles City, MT (annual streamflow, water temperature, and sampling)
USGS monitoring activities at these sites were funded by partner agencies. Lack of partner funding for these sites resulted in discontinuation of all streamgaging activities.

LOCATION - Lat 46°13'42.08", long 105°41'26.19" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.35, T.6 S., R.48 E., Custer County, MT, Hydrologic Unit 10090102, on right bank 12 ft upstream from bridge on U.S.Highway 312, 7.5 mi upstream from mouth, and 16 mi southeast of Miles City.
DRAINAGE AREA - 696 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1972 to November 1985, May 2004 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 2,474.86 ft, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. May 2004 to April 2013, recording gage at same site but different datum.
