SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
LOCATION.--Lat 41°01'29", long 74°24'30"
referenced to North American Datum of 1983, West Milford Township,
Passaic County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02030103, on left bank 15 ft
downstream from culvert under southbound lane of State Route 23, 900 ft
upstream of Macopin Reservoir, 0.5 mi southeast of Green Pond Junction,
and 0.8 mi east of Charlotteburg Reservoir.
DRAINAGE AREA.--57.1 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--Continuous-record discharge station, April
2010 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with telemetry. Datum of gage is 610
ft above NAVD of 1988 (from topographic map).
REMARKS.--Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which
are poor. Flow regulated by Cannistear Reservoir, Oak Ridge Reservoir,
Clinton Reservoir, Charlotteburg Reservoir, and other small upstream
lakes and ponds. Water diverted at Charlotteburg Reservoir for
municipal supply of city of Newark. Discharges above 940 ft³/s from
rating curve extension on basis of culvert computation of peak
flow.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 3,650 ft³/s,
Aug 28, 2011, gage height, 11.09 ft, from rating curve extended above
940 ft³/s on basis of culvert computation of peak flow; minimum
discharge, 1.4 ft³/s, Aug 27, 2010.
