SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

LOCATION.--Lat 39°37'23", long 74°26'29" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Bass River Township, Burlington County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040301, on left bank about 100 ft upstream from bridge on Stage Road, 0.7 mi west of Lake Absegami, 2.2 mi north of New Gretna, and 5.3 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA.--8.11 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--Occasional low-flow measurements, water years 1969 to 1974. Continuous-record discharge station, January 1978 to current year.
REVISED RECORDS.--WDR NJ-81-1:1978-80(P). WDR NJ-92-1:1978, 1979, 1989, 1991(P).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with telemetry. Datum of gage is 1.10 ft above NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS.--Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Occasional regulation by Lake Absegami. Discharges above 150 ft3/s from rating curve extension on basis of logarithmic extrapolation.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 1,130 ft3/s, Aug 21, 1997, gage height, 7.28 ft, from rating curve extended above 150 ft3/s on basis of logarithmic extrapolation, maximum gage height, 8.94 ft, Oct 29, 2012, from high-water mark, affected by backwater from tide; minimum discharge, 4.7 ft3/s, Sep 15, 1995.

WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD.--Water years 1975 to current year.
REMARKS.--Discrete water-quality data were collected as part of the New Jersey Ambient Surface-Water-Quality Monitoring Network.
