Due to the effects of tidal fluctuations, a rating curve has been
developed that uses the index-velocity method to compute discharge
during periods when traditional stage-discharge rating curves are not
as appropriate. The new rating curve has been implemented as of March
13, 2013 and will be used when discharges are less than approximately
1,000 cfs. During these periods, 15-minute discharge data will appear
more erratic than previous, and is a result of using the new method.
The daily mean discharges computed using the index-velocity rating
should be more reliable than those computed using stage-discharge
methods. For a reference to the index-velocity method, please see
