LOCATION.--Lat 43° 47'48", long 112° 50'58" (NAD27), in NW1/4 NW1/4 sec.2, T.5 N., R.30 E., Butte County, ID, Hydrologic Unit 17040218, Big Lost River Sinks quad., between Big Lost River Sinks Playa No.1 and Playa No.2, and 8.2 mi southeast of Howe.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--July 1984 to March 1996 (discontinued). 1984-88 water years published in WDR ID-91-1.
REVISED RECORDS.--WDR ID-90-1: 1986(M).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 4,700.00 ft above NGVD of 1929, levels by US Geological Survey.
REMARKS.--Flow in Big Lost River is regulated by Mackay Reservoir (see sta 13126000) and INL diversion (see sta 13132513). Playas are below all diversions for irrigation in the Big Lost River Valley and are below the Idaho National Laboratory diversion for flood control. Add 4,700 ft to elevations to obtain elevation above mean sea level. The lowest elevation the gage can record is 4,783.90 ft (below that is dry).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum elevation observed, 4,788.92 ft, June 20, 1986;
playa dry for long periods most years.
