> Site Information
LOCATION.--Lat 40°51'48", long 73°38'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Nassau County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02030201, on right bank just downstream from Glen Cove Road, at downstream side of culvert in Pratt Park, one block west of post office, in Glen Cove.
DRAINAGE AREA.--14.4 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1938 to March 2000, May 2005 to September 2010. Prior to October 1967, published as Cedar Swamp Creek.
REVISIONS HISTORY.--WSP 971: 1939-42. WDR NY-86-2: 1960 (M). WDR NY-09-2: Drainage area.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of gage is 15.68 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Oct. 31, 1977, at datum 0.15 ft higher. Prior to June 17, 1965, at datum 0.19 ft higher.
REMARKS.--No estimated daily discharges. Records fair except those above 200 ft³/s, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 728 ft³/s, Sept. 12, 1960, gage height, 7.12 ft, from rating curve extended above 110 ft³/s on basis of step-backwater method; minimum discharge, 0.83 ft³/s, Sept. 6, 2005, gage height, 0.49 ft, result of construction; minimum gage height, 0.09 ft, Sept. 29, 30, 2005, result of removal of concrete control during construction.
