LOCATION.--Lat 43° 04'49", long 114° 18'33"(Rev.)(NAD83), in NE1/4 NW1/4 sec.15, T.4 S., R.18 E., Lincoln County, Kinzie Butte quad., Hydrologic Unit 17040219, 0.25 mi upstream from outlet of canal, 7 mi west of Richfield, 11 mi northeast of Shoshone, and 12.5 mi downstream from Magic Dam.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--April 1925 to September 1948 (irrigation seasons only except 1937-46) (discontinued).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Elevation of gage is 4,415 ft above NGVD of 1929, from barometer. Prior to Apr. 29, 1928, staff gage at same site and datum.
REMARKS.--Canal diverts water from right bank of Big Wood River in sec.9, T.3 S., R.18 E., from which point it approximately parallels river for 10 mi to head of North Gooding Canal in sec.15, T.4 S., R.18 E., where water is either diverted into North Gooding Canal or returned to Big Wood River. Canal is used to avoid large channel losses in natural bed of river. Five ditches have right to divert 12.5 ft3/s above this station for irrigation. Lincoln Canal was completed during the spring of 1925.
COOPERATION.--Water-stage recorder graph and some discharge measurements furnished by Water District No.7 AB (Big Wood and Little Wood Rivers).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge observed, 667 ft3/s May 28, 1927,
gage height, 2.48 ft, from rating curve extended above 550 ft3/s;
no flow for long periods in each year.
