USGS 13146500 BIG WOOD RIVER AT GOODING ID

LOCATION.--Lat 42° 57'06", long 114° 42'48"(Rev.)(NAD83), in NE1/4 NE1/4 sec.31, T.5 S., R.15 E., Gooding County, Gooding quad., Hydrologic Unit 17040219, on left bank 30 ft downstream from highway bridge, and 0.5 mi north of Gooding.

DRAINAGE AREA.--1,953 mi2, revised.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1896 to October 1899 (published as Malade River at Toponis), monthly summary data published in WSP 1317, April 1921 to September 1948 no winter record (discontinued).

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 3,536.20 ft above mean sea level, unadjusted. June 2, 1896 to Oct. 14, 1899, staff or wire-weight gage at approximately the same site, at different datum.

REMARKS.--Many diversions above and below station for irrigation. Flow regulated by Magic Reservoir (sta 13142000) and affected since 1930 by deliveries from Snake River through the Milner-Gooding Canal (see Gooding Canal, sta 13086500).

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge observed, 5,940 ft3/s June 5, 19, 1896, gage height, 9.6 ft, datum then in use; no flow during long periods each year.
