LOCATION - Lat 46°06'18", long 67°52'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Aroostook County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01010005, on right bank 0.3 mi downstream from South Branch Meduxnekeag River and 2.0 mi upstream from Houlton.
DRAINAGE AREA - 175 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: October 1940 to September 1982, October 2003 to September 2015 (discontinued). October 1940 monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1301. MISCELLANEOUS MEASUREMENTS: 1999-2002.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 333.92 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
REMARKS -
  • Water Year 2015: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Nov. 22, Nov. 27 to Dec. 11, and Dec. 30 to Apr. 14, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2014: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Nov. 20-26, Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, and Dec. 8 to Apr. 15, which are poor.
  • EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 7,160 ft³/s, Dec. 14, 2010, gage height, 9.93 ft; maximum gage height, 10.83 ft, Mar. 27, 1953 (backwater from ice); minimum discharge, 3.1 ft³/s, Sept. 3, 2010.
