01037050 PENOBSCOT RIVER AT BANGOR, ME
LOCATION - Lat 44°47'47", long 68°46'04" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Penobscot County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01020005, at downstream side of Washington Street bridge, 8.8 mi upstream of Stillwater River, at mouth of Kenduskeag Stream.
DRAINAGE AREA - 7,884 mi² of which -,249 mi² probably is noncontributing. Drainage area is 8,133 mi², including 249 mi² drained by Chamberlain Lake through Telos Canal.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - GAGE HEIGHT: December 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is at North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
REMARKS - Gage height affected by ocean tides. Gage height affected by regulation of many reservoirs above station. Gage-height data are measured down from the bridge deck and not using historical methods from the water pressure above a defined point in the river. Therefore water level data will read higher when ice is present on the water surface. Gaps in record indicate missing data.
