LOCATION - Lat 44°46'44", long 69°53'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Somerset County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, on left bank, 1.0 mi upstream from Sandy River, 1.3 mi south of Madison, and 1.5 mi downstream from State Routes 8, 43, and 148 highway bridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,245 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-US-2016: 2015(M)
  • The maximum discharge and gage height for water year 2015 was revised on August 8, 2017, as the values published in water year 2015 occurred on the rise of an event that peaked in the following water year.
  • SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
    PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: April 2009 to current year.
    GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 180 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
    REMARKS -

    Flow regulated by Moosehead Lake, Indian Pond, and Brassua, Flagstaff, and Wyman Lakes. Considerable diurnal fluctuation caused by powerplant above station.
