01047200 SANDY RIVER NEAR MADRID, ME
LOCATION - Lat 44°51'28", long 70°29'07" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Franklin County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, on right bank 670 ft upstream from State Route 4 highway bridge on Mud Pond Road. Prior to Sept. 19, 2019, on left bank at downstream side of State Route 4 highway bridge, 0.9 mi southeast of Madrid, 1.3 mi northeast of Lufkin Pond, and 1.3 mi upstream of Orbeton Stream.
DRAINAGE AREA - 25.3 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: July 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 940 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Sept. 19, 2019, at site 670 ft downstream at datum 10 ft lower.
REMARKS -
  • Water Year 2020: Records good, except for periods of estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
  • Water Year 2019: Records good, except for periods of estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Maximum discharge from rating curve extended above 1,300 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.

  • Water Year 2017: Records good, except for period of ice effect, Nov. 29 to Apr. 7, and period of no gage-height record, Mar. 5-6, which are poor. Maximum discharge from rating curve extended above 1,300 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.
  • Water Year 2016: Records good, except for periods of ice effect, Nov. 24 to Dec. 2, Dec. 20-22, Dec. 27 to Mar. 27, Apr. 4-6, 10-11, and period of no gage-height record, Dec. 28-31, which are poor.
