LOCATION - Lat 44°17'12.50", long 69°47'17.50" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kennebec County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, on right bank 90 ft east of the U.S. Route 201 and Front Street intersection, in Hallowell, and 0.7 mi upstream from Vaughn Brook.
DRAINAGE AREA - 5,527 mi².  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - GAGE HEIGHT: March 2018 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is at North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
REMARKS - Gage height affected by ocean tides. Flow regulated by Indian and Plymouth Ponds, and Moosehead, Brassua, Flagstaff, Wyman, Great Moose, and Sebasticook Lakes. Gaps in record indicate missing data.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of April 1987 reached a stage of 28.4 ft, from flood marker 450 ft downstream from gage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 12.56 ft, Dec. 26, 2020; minimum gage height, -2.95 ft, June 25, 2021.
