LOCATION - Lat 44°13'45", long 69°46'41" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kennebec County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, on left bank 300 ft upstream from Winter Street bridge in Gardiner, 0.4 mi upstream from mouth, and 0.8 mi downstream from Gardiner Water District dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 217 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 541: 1916-20. WSP 1201: Drainage area. WSP 1231: 1910-15. WSP 1701: 1956-59. WDR ME-97-1: 1891-1935(M) 1937-64(M) 1979(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 20.00 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. June 16, 1890 to Sept. 30, 1964, nonrecording gage at site 0.8 mi upstream at different datum.
COOPERATION - Prior to 1961 records furnished by S.D. Warren Co. Records from 1961 to 1964 furnished by Gardiner Water District.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Cobbosseecontee Lake and several other lakes upstream.

Water Year 2017: No estimated daily discharges. Records good.
Water Year 2016: No estimated daily discharges. Records good.
Water Year 2015: Records good, including periods of ice effect, Jan. 11, Feb. 21, 23-24, 28, Mar. 6, except for periods of doubtful gage-height record, Oct. 1-7, Apr. 11 to Sept. 10, and periods of no gage-height record May 1-2, 14, 31, June 1, 7, 18, 22-23, and Sept. 6-9, which are fair.
Water Year 2014: Records good, except for period of doubtful gage-height record, May 1 to Sept. 30, and period of no gage-height record, Aug. 27-28, which are fair.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 5,020 ft³/s, Mar. 21, 1936, gage height unknown; minimum discharge, leakage only when all gates in dam were closed several days in 1890-1909.
