01064118 PRESUMPSCOT RIVER AT WESTBROOK, ME
LOCATION - Lat 43°41'13", long 70°20'50" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Cumberland County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01060001, on right bank, 0.4 miles downstream from Cumberland Street Bridge in Westbrook, and at Sappi Westbrook Mill bridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - 577 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - DISCHARGE: October 1975 to September 1995. October 2016 to September 2020. GAGE HEIGHT: November 1998 to September 2016. October 2020 to current year. Prior to October 1984, published as "near West Falmouth" (station 01064140).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage 13.42 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to Dec. 13, 1984, at site 4.1 mi downstream at datum 2.27 ft lower.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Sebago Lake and many small power plants upstream.

  • EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - The flood of Oct. 22, 1996 reached a discharge of 23,300 ft³/s (estimated), gage height, 34.10 ft, from flood marks (present site and datum), on basis of contracted-opening measurement of peak flow.
    EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 13,900 ft³/s (estimated), Aug. 20, 1991; maximum gage height, 25.48 ft, Aug. 20, 1991, from flood marks (present site and datum); minimum daily discharge, 39 ft³/s, July 9, 1976, former site and datum.
