LOCATION - Lat 43°49'48", long 71°17'18" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Carroll County, NH, Hydrologic Unit 01060002, on right bank, 0.7 mi upstream of Sanger Brook, 0.8 mi east of South Tamworth, 1.0 mi downstream of Cold Brook, and 1.1 mi west of Whittier.
DRAINAGE AREA - 67.6 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: April 1993 to current year. Published as "near South Tamworth" prior to October 1995.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 492.91 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Formerly published as Bear Camp River.
COOPERATION - New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and USGS Groundwater and Streamflow Information Program.
REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2014-2018, 2020-2023: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
WATER YEAR 2019: Records fair except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 6,150 ft³/s, June 14, 1998, gage height 9.64 ft; maximum gage height, 11.44 ft, January 27, 2005 (ice jam); minimum discharge, 2.0 ft³/s, September 13 and 14, 2002.
