LOCATION - Lat 42°18'59", long 71°13'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Norfolk County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01090001, on left bank, 30 ft upstream from horseshoe dam and 50 ft upstream from bridge on State Highway 9, at Wellesley.
DRAINAGE AREA - 211 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Annual peak discharge, 2010 water year. 2010 annual peak, revised to 2,170 cfs from 1,310 cfs.

The historical low flow of 0.00 cfs on Sept. 15, 1959 was caused by closing of gates at Silk Mill Dam upstream from gage. Zero flow also occurred on Oct. 6, 1959.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge: August 1959 to current year. Water-quality records: water year 1968.
GAGE - Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 67.12 ft above NAVD 1988. Datum previously reported as 67.92 ft above NGVD 1929.
COOPERATION - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Planning and Engineering.
REMARKS - Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow affected by diversions to Mother Brook (station 01104000), and by diversions to and from basin for municipal supplies. Occasional regulation at Silk Mill Dam, 0.2 mi upstream and by other ponds upstream. Note:The historical instantaneous low flow of 0.00 cfs on Sept. 15, 1959 was caused by the closing of the gates at dam above the gage. The instantaneous low flow of 0.00 cfs also occurred on Oct. 6, 1959.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak discharge, 3,668 cfs, Feb. 16, 1886 (from dam observer at Newton Upper Falls, about 1 mi upstream from current gage, based on flow over dam stage and use of Francis Formula).
