01104715 CHARLES RIVER AT NEW CHARLES RIVER DAM AT BOSTON, MA
LOCATION - Lat 42°22'08", long 71°03'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Suffolk County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01090001, at New Charles River Dam, 0.7 mi north of Boston.
DRAINAGE AREA - 335 mi² of which 24 mi² probably is noncontributing.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
Charles River Stage: September 2002 to current year. Boston Harbor Tide Stage: October 2002 to September 2006, May 2008 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with GOES telemetry. Datum of gage is MWRA local datum, previously reported as Boston City Base. Subtract 105.62 ft to adjust gage height to elevation of National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Subtract 106.68 ft to adjust gage height to elevation of North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
COOPERATION - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Planning and Engineering.
REMARKS - Periods of missing record are not estimated. Frequent stage fluctuations are due to gate changes, lock operations, and pumping when necessary, at New Charles River Dam.
