LOCATION - Lat 42°16'15", long 71°04'08" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Norfolk County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01090001, From Nov. 1996 to Mar. 14, 2007, and from Dec. 10, 2009 to present, on right bank, 75 ft downstream from Baker Dam at Milton Village. From Mar. 14, 2007 to Dec. 10, 2009, on right bank, 15 ft upstream from Baker Dam at Milton Village.
DRAINAGE AREA - 101 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1996 to current year.
GAGE -

Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 0.7 ft below NAVD 1988. Prior to Nov. 22, 2022, datum of gage incorrectly reported as NAVD88 and NGVD 1929. Gage operated 15 feet upstream of Baker Dam at same datum from Mar. 14, 2007, to Feb. 19, 2009. Prior to Mar. 14, 2007, datum of gage considered arbitrary.

REMARKS - Flow regulated by mills and reservoirs upstream. Flow affected by diversion from Charles River basin to Neponset River basin by Mother Brook (station 01104000) through Dedham and Hyde Park and by diversions to and from basin for municipal supplies. Falsely high discharges due to tidal rises appear in the real-time discharge record but are removed prior to computation and publication of daily mean discharges provided in the table below. Stage records affected by high tides are not adjusted. Maximum peak stage affected by backwater from tide.
