LOCATION - Lat 41°29'53", long 71°43'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Washington County, RI, Hydrologic Unit 01090005, on right bank 0.2 mi downstream from highway bridge at Hope Valley and 6.6 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 72.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1201: 1948(P); March 4 to April 9, 2007, daily discharges.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge: August to December 1909 (gage heights only), March 1941 to current year. Records of daily discharge for August to December 1909, published in WSP 261, have been found to be unreliable and should not be used. Water-quality records: October 1977 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telephone telemeter. Datum of gage is 61.11 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. August to December 1909, nonrecording gage at site 1,000 ft upstream at different datum.
COOPERATION - Rhode Island Water Resources Board.
REMARKS - Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are fair. Some seasonal regulation by Locustville Pond on Brushy Brook since 1968. Some regulation at low flow by mills and ponds upstream until 1952; regulation greater prior to 1948.
