LOCATION - Lat 42°04'57.43", long 72°03'30.17" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Worcester County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01100001, located on right bank, 200 ft downstream from Westville Dam, 1.0 mi upstream from McKinstry Brook, and 1.3 mi west of Southbridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - 94.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR MA-RI-03-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1962 to September 1990, October 2002 to current year. Gage operated from October 1990 to September 2002 for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood-control project information; missing and erroneous data during this period were not estimated.
GAGE - Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 510.64 ft above NAVD 1988, from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark. Prior to May 8, 2020, datum reported as 511.33 ft above NGVD 1929, from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark.

REMARKS -

Water Year 2018-2019: Records good except for periods of estimated discharges, which are fair. Flow regulated by Westville and East Brimfield Lakes and by other mills and reservoirs upstream.

Water Year 2017: Records are good. Flow regulated by Westville and East Brimfield Lakes and by other mills and reservoirs upstream.

Water year 2017: The minimum daily discharge of 15 ft³/s occurred on Oct. 7, 2016.

The historical maximum peak flow of 1,850 ft³/s on Mar. 23, 1980 is based on the rating curve extended above 1,100 ft³/s.
