LOCATION - Lat 43°06'32", long 72°46'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Windham County, VT, Hydrologic Unit 01080107, on left bank, 0.3 mi upstream from Depot Street bridge, 0.4 mi upstream from Ball Mountain Brook, 0.7 mi north of Depot Street and State Highway 30/100 intersection in Jamaica, 2.5 mi downstream from Ball Mountain Dam, and 7.0 mi northwest of State Highways 30 and 35 intersection in Townshend.
DRAINAGE AREA - 179 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NH-VT-97-1: 1994 (M), 1996 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: October 1946 to September 1989, October 1995 to current year. Maximum and measured discharges only: Water years 1990-1995.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 660.63 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2014-22: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated since 1961 by Ball Mountain Reservoir.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 29,500 ft³/s, December 31, 1948, gage height, 14.87 ft, from rating curve extended above 9,800 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow; minimum daily, 0.94 ft³/s, September 23, 24, 1968. Maximum discharge since construction of Ball Mountain Dam in 1961, 5,900 ft³/s, April 6, 1998, gage height, 9.49 ft; maximum gage height, 13.49 ft, March 22, 2003 (ice jam).
