LOCATION - Lat 42°17'16", long 72°51'53" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Hampshire County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01080206, on left bank at Knightville, 0.2 mi downstream from Knightville Dam, 0.2 mi upstream from Sykes Brook, 2.4 mi upstream from Middle Branch Westfield, 3.5 mi north of Huntington, and at river mile 29.7.
DRAINAGE AREA - 161 mi².

GAGE - Data Collection Platform with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 460.62 ft above NAVD 1988, from levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Prior to May 11, 2020, datum reported as 461.25 ft above NGVD 1929, from levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, obtained from elevation of RM-2 used as 466.88 ft above mean sea level by Corps of Engineers (The source of this elevation is B.M. P-6, U.S.C. & G.S. at Huntington, elevation, 381.91 ft, datum of 1929). Prior to Jan. 11, 1936, non-recording gage at site 0.5 mi upstream at different datum. Jan. 11, 1935, to May 20, 1940, water-stage recorder at site 700 ft upstream at datum 10.57 ft higher. May 21 to Dec. 19, 1940, non-recording gage at site 700 ft upstream at datum 18.75 ft higher.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - Records fair except those for estimated discharge and those for discharges greater than 2,000 ft³/s, which are poor. Flow regulated by Knightville Reservoir since 1941.
Maximum peak flow 37,900 ft³/s Sept 21, 1938 from rating curve extended above 3,800ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement at gage heights 24.07 ft and 29.58 ft.
