LOCATION - Lat 42°04'43.90", long 73°04'22.38" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Berkshire County, MA, Hydrologic Unit 01080207, on left bank 5 ft downstream from highway bridge, 0.3 mi downstream from Clam River, 1 mi south of New Boston, and at river mile 65.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 91.7 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1913 to current year. Prior to October 1948, published as Farmington River near New Boston.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 758.21 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Water Resources.
REMARKS -
  • Water years 2014-2018: Records good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by Otis Reservoir 7.0 mi upstream on Fall River. High flow slightly affected by retarding reservoirs since 1966.
  • Water Year 2017: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by Otis Reservoir 7.0 mi upstream on Fall River. High flow slightly affected by retarding reservoirs since 1966.
  • Water Year 2018: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by Otis Reservoir 7.0 mi upstream on Fall River. High flow slightly affected by retarding reservoirs since 1966.
  • EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow of 34,300 ft³/s was obtained from the rating curve extended above 9,600 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.
